Katampe is in the phase 2 development plan of Abuja which is adjacent to Maitama, Mabushi, Jahi ans Katampe extension. It is about 10 minutes drive to the Central Business District. Katampe is before Gwarinpa on the left side of Murtala Muhammed Expressway and Katampe extension is on the right (from Maitama to Kubwa).
The district is made up of two parts namely Katampe ‘Main’ (in the south) and ‘Extension’ (in the north). The Extension area is designated a “diplomatic zone”.
The neighbourhood boasts of good infrastructure, in parts, including steady electricity, good road network and landscaping. Most amenities are only a short distance away.

Katampe Hill: a rocky outcrop that serves as one of the highest points in the capital and the geographic midpoint of the nation. This naturally hilly topography allows for some of the most beautiful panoramic views of The Federal Capital.
The district is strategically located near both inner and outer neighbourhoods of Abuja. Katampe Main and Extension are split by the Murtala Mohammed Expressway which links to a highway leading to Kaduna. Adjacent areas include Dawaki, Gwarinpa, Jahi, Kado, Mabushi and Maitama. Other major roads close to the district are Katampe Road and Aminu Sale Road. Journeys to the Central Area take 15-20 minutes.
Katampe is mainly residential, although there are plans for an increase in commercial activities. Infrastructure in the districts is improving as it continues to see significant investment.
